Assisted Reproduction for Couples and Individuals
No waiting time
Who can receive treatment with us?
With us, there is room for different paths toward the same goal – having a child. Assisted reproduction is available to male–female couples, female couples, and women who wish to become mothers on their own – either now or by preserving their fertility for the future. Whatever your situation, we meet you with respect, care, and understanding.
Some have been trying to conceive for a long time without success. Others are just at the beginning and want to explore the possibilities available. For many, reaching out is a big step – which is why we are committed to making your first contact feel safe, supportive, and predictable.
Treatment is regulated by the Norwegian Biotechnology Act. For women, the upper age limit for insemination or embryo transfer is 46 years. Before starting treatment, all patients must be tested for hepatitis B and C, as well as HIV. These blood tests must be completed within the last 24 months prior to IVF treatment.
We know that no journey is the same. That’s why we have created dedicated pages based on your situation – so you can easily find information that is relevant to you.
Male and Female Couples
Have you been trying for a while – without success?
Many of the couples who come to us have been trying to conceive for some time. For some, it has been months; for others, several years. Some feel ready to seek help, while others need a bit more time before taking that step. Wherever you are in the process, we meet you with understanding and respect.
A safe first step
Some wish to begin with a no-obligation consultation, while others are ready for a full fertility assessment. At your first visit, we take the time needed – so you can feel at ease and well cared for.
Getting to know you as a couple
During the first consultation, we focus on understanding the full picture:
- How long you have been trying
- Whether you have children from before
- What you hope for
- How you are experiencing your current situation
This helps us recommend the most appropriate next steps.
Investigations that provide answers
For the woman, we typically perform:
- Blood tests to assess hormone levels
- A gynecological examination and ultrasound
For the man:
- A semen analysis to evaluate sperm quality
Together, these assessments give us a clearer picture of your possibilities and any challenges.
The way forward – tailored to you
Sometimes, no specific cause is found, and that alone can provide reassurance to continue trying on your own. In other cases, we may recommend treatment.
Possible options include:
- Hormonal stimulation
- Insemination
- IVF (in vitro fertilisation)
- Donor sperm (if needed)
- Fertility surgery
We tailor treatment to you as a couple, based on your needs and situation. We also understand that this can be an emotionally demanding journey, and we are here to support both of you every step of the way.
Female Couples
More and more women are choosing to have children together as a couple. With us, you will meet a professional team with experience, care, and a deep understanding of your situation.
When you get in touch, we begin with a conversation to get to know you and your wishes. Together, we explore:
- Which treatment option suits you best
- How the process can be adapted to your lives
Donor sperm – safe and well managed
We guide you through the entire process:
- Choosing a donor in accordance with current regulations
- Ordering, transport, and secure storage of donor sperm
- Ongoing support throughout your treatment
Treatment options
Insemination
- Often the first choice
- Gentle and minimally invasive
- Can be performed in a natural cycle
IVF (in vitro fertilisation)
- Considered if insemination is not successful
- Higher success rate per attempt
- Option to freeze fertilised embryos
A process on your terms
We tailor treatment to you and your life situation – and provide a safe and supportive presence throughout a process that can involve anticipation, vulnerability, and hope.
Single Woman
Would you like to have a child on your own – or preserve your fertility for the future?
Choosing to become a mother on your own is a significant and personal decision. Many women come to us to explore their options – whether they are ready for treatment, seeking knowledge, or considering egg freezing.
Start with a no-obligation consultation
The first step is a calm and open conversation where we:
- Get to know you and your situation
- Talk about your wishes and expectations
- Review available options
You will have plenty of time to ask any questions.
Fertility assessment
To give you the best possible advice, we typically perform:
- Blood tests to assess hormone levels
- Ultrasound of the uterus and ovaries
This provides a clear picture of your fertility and helps guide the next steps.
Egg freezing
For some, preserving the option of pregnancy later is important. We help you assess whether egg freezing is right for you, and the best timing for it.
Insemination or IVF?
The choice of treatment is individual:
Insemination
- Often the first step
- Simple and gentle method
- Can be done in a natural cycle
IVF
- Considered when a higher success rate is needed
- Involves hormonal stimulation and egg retrieval
Donor sperm
Treatment is carried out using donor sperm from approved sperm banks. In accordance with Norwegian law, donors are not anonymous, meaning the child has the right to access identifying information later in life.
Your journey – at your pace
This is a deeply personal process. Some are ready to begin quickly, while others need time. We tailor treatment to you and your wishes – and support you every step of the way, at your pace.
Single Man
Would you like insight into your fertility?
Many men reach out to gain a better understanding of their fertility – whether out of curiosity, as part of family planning, or in preparation for having children in the future.
A simple first step: semen analysis
A semen analysis provides important information about your sperm quality. The sample is assessed based on factors such as:
- Sperm count
- Motility (movement)
- Morphology (shape)
The results can offer reassurance – or highlight areas that may benefit from further evaluation.
What happens next?
If the analysis shows any deviations, we guide you through further assessment and possible next steps. For some, this may include additional testing or referral.
Knowledge creates possibilities
Understanding your fertility can help you make informed decisions – both now and in the future.
