A semen analysis is a safe and simple way to assess a man's semen quality. The samples provide important information about the number, motility and appearance of the sperm, and are often used as a first step when you want to investigate fertility or are planning assisted conception. En sædanalyse er en trygg og enkel måte å kartlegge mannens sædkvalitet på. Prøven gir viktig informasjon om antall, bevegelighet og utseende på spermiene, og brukes ofte som første steg når du ønsker å undersøke fertilitet eller planlegger assistert befruktning.
A simple semen analysis gives a basic assessment of a man's sperm quality, including sperm count, concentration, motility and morphology. This provides important information about fertility and can be the first step in a fertility assessment.
Preparation:
- 2 days of abstinence since the last ejaculation is recommended
- The evening before the test: wash the penis with soap and water
- On the day of the test: wash with water only, avoid creams or oils
- The sample can be taken at the clinic or at home. If taken at home: deliver it within one hour and keep it at body temperature. Do not use lubricant or saliva
