The Story Behind CMedical
CMedical was founded from personal experiences—and a fundamental belief that patients deserve better.
When serial entrepreneur Gard Lauvsnes was diagnosed with prostate cancer at the age of 50, he experienced firsthand how inadequate the support surrounding treatment could be. He believed that men deserved something different—and something better. Together with a team of dedicated urologists, he founded Colosseum Mann, the predecessor of CMedical, becoming the first in Norway to offer robot-assisted prostatectomy for prostate cancer. Shortly afterward, a committed team of orthopedic specialists joined the journey, sharing the same ambition: to provide highly specialized expertise where patients need it most.
At the same time, gynecologist Madeleine Engen had a vision of creating the women's healthcare service she herself had lacked as a young woman. After nine years of misdiagnoses, ineffective treatments, and countless gynecology appointments, she finally found the right expertise and made a full recovery. That experience became her driving force. Together with Gard, she built the Nordic region's first comprehensive women's healthcare service, bringing together multidisciplinary expert teams in endometriosis and adenomyosis, birth injuries, menopause, vulvar disorders, infertility, as well as pregnancy and postpartum care. A place for women throughout every stage of life—from puberty and family planning to the years during and after menopause. Women's healthcare, the way it should be.
