About Istvan
Istvan Zoltan Rigo is a specialist in orthopedic surgery and holds the European Diploma in Hand Surgery (FESSH Diploma). He previously worked at Rikshospitalet, which has nationwide responsibility for advanced hand surgery. Istvan works as a consultant at the Orthopedic Department, Østfold Hospital and is involved in clinical research.
He has extensive experience in hand surgery, including the treatment of ligament injuries, arthroscopy (keyhole surgery) and prosthetic surgery of the wrist and other joints of the hand. Dr. Rigo holds a doctorate and wrote his PhD thesis on flexor tendon injuries of the hand. He has also written several scientific publications and book chapters in hand surgery, and teaches at various Scandinavian and international courses in hand surgery and arthroscopic surgery.
In addition to common hand surgeries (surgery for carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, de Quervain syndrome and Dupuytren's contracture) he performs other advanced hand surgeries, including various arthroscopic procedures, ligament reconstructions, bracing and prosthetic surgeries in the wrist and hand.
