About Istvan
Istvan Zoltan Rigo is a specialist in orthopedic surgery and holds a European Diploma in Hand Surgery (FESSH Diploma). He has previously worked at Rikshospitalet, which has national responsibility for advanced hand surgery. Istvan currently works as a senior consultant at the Orthopedic Department at Østfold Hospital and is actively involved in clinical research.
He has extensive experience in hand surgery, including the treatment of ligament injuries, arthroscopy (minimally invasive surgery), and prosthetic surgery of the wrist and other hand joints. Dr. Rigo holds a doctorate and wrote his Ph.D. thesis on flexor tendon injuries in the hand. He has also authored several scientific publications and book chapters on hand surgery and teaches at various Scandinavian and international courses in hand surgery and arthroscopic surgery.
In addition to common hand surgical procedures (such as operations for carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, de Quervain's syndrome, and Dupuytren’s contracture), he also performs advanced hand surgical procedures, including various arthroscopic techniques, ligament reconstructions, joint fusions, and prosthetic operations in the wrist and hand.
