Fallopian tube examination (HyFoSy)

One cause of infertility can be that the fallopian tubes are not open. HyFoSy is an ultrasound examination that shows whether they are. A contrast fluid is passed into the uterus and fallopian tubes through a thin catheter, and on the ultrasound image the doctor can see whether the fluid passes through. The examination does not use X-rays and is usually well tolerated. Afterwards you get an explanation of the result and know what the next step may be.
