About STIs and testing
Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are infections mainly transmitted through sexual contact. The most common in Norway are chlamydia and gonorrhoea. Many who are infected have no symptoms, so the infection can be present without you knowing.
When symptoms occur in women they can include changed discharge, burning when urinating, bleeding between periods, bleeding after intercourse or pain in the lower abdomen. Symptoms can be unspecific, and absence of symptoms does not rule out infection.
