Hernia surgery
Hernia surgery
An inguinal hernia is a very common condition caused by an inborn weakness in the abdominal wall where the spermatic cord in men and the round ligament in women pass through the inguinal canal. This may result in an indirect hernia, where bowel enters the canal and sometimes the scrotum, or a direct hernia, where bowel forms a pocket beside the canal. More rarely, a femoral hernia develops below the inguinal ligament towards the upper thigh. At CMedical, we repair inguinal hernias using the latest advanced robotic technology for maximum safety and a gentle recovery.

About hernia surgery
01
Before the operation
Before the day of surgery, please read the information you have received about anesthesia. Since the procedure is performed through small incisions in the abdomen, thorough washing of the navel on the day of surgery is an important part of the preparation to avoid infection.
02
Discharge and return home
After the operation, you will be observed in our postoperative ward. Before you go home the same day, the surgeon will come by for a short conversation about how the procedure went. Since you have been under anesthesia, you cannot drive yourself, and you must have an adult with you for the first 24 hours.
03
The time after
In the first few days, it is normal to feel a little bloated or have discomfort in your shoulders due to the gas used during the procedure – this is easily relieved with regular painkillers and gentle walking. You should avoid heavy lifting over 10 kilos for the first 6 weeks.
