About foot and ankle
We offer all subspecialties within orthopedic foot and ankle surgery, and our specialists can perform all types of procedures.
Hallux valgus is a deformity in which the big toe angles toward the other toes, while a bump (bunion) forms on the inside of the foot. The condition often causes pain when wearing shoes, swelling and chafing, and over time can change the loading of the entire forefoot.
Treatment: For mild symptoms, wide shoes, insoles and physiotherapy may be sufficient. When symptoms persist, surgery is an option.
Surgical method — MIS / MICA: We perform the procedure using a minimally invasive technique (MIS / MICA — Minimally Invasive Chevron-Akin). The big toe is corrected through very small incisions, with precise bone cuts and fixation with screws. Compared with open surgery, the method generally gives less swelling, less scarring and faster mobilization. MIS and MICA are surgical methods we choose based on diagnosis and findings, not diagnoses in themselves.
