Sterilization

400+ robot operations per year

Sterilization involves the removal of a segment of the vas deferens in the upper part of the scrotum with the aim of preventing the passage of sperm to the seminal vesicles.

Sterilization Procedure
The procedure is performed under local anesthesia through a small incision in the scrotum. After the operation, complementary contraception should be used until a sperm analysis confirms the success of the procedure.

The operation should be considered permanent, so it is important to carefully consider the decision beforehand. There is the possibility of a procedure called refertilization, where the vas deferens is reconnected (vasovasostomy) if one later regrets the decision, but it is not a guaranteed restoration of fertility.

Your urologist will provide detailed information about the operation and its consequences during a visit.
