Kristian Ophaug

Kristian Ophaug has over 20 years of experience as a therapist in specialist healthcare and has worked at the Women's Clinic at Rikshospitalet since 2022. He is a trained clinical social worker and family therapist, specializing in mental health during pregnancy and postpartum.

Since 2018, he has worked with couples facing infertility and served as a fertility counselor in the IVF department at Oslo University Hospital. Drawing on his personal IVF experience and professional background, Kristian has developed a unique fertility counseling service.

As Norway's only male fertility counselor, he supports men facing infertility and focuses on both partners to ease challenges in the treatment process.

Kristian helps women and men express and process emotions around infertility, providing tools to handle the emotional challenges. He also offers advice to couples on how to support each other throughout the process or to individuals going through it alone.

His sessions are tailored to individual needs, offering guidance to normalize thoughts and feelings and tools to cope with grief from failed attempts or miscarriages
